About Us

Crowland Insurance Bureau is a privately owned, independent, insurance brokers run by David Fowls.

For generations the Fowls family have been advising people, and in the process, helping them to make history - as you will see from the following examples:

BC 1200 - TROY: Gardner, Demetri Fowls suggested the Greek wooden horse would make a nice feature in King Priam's garden.

BC 218 - SPAIN: Scipio Fowls tells Hannibal he's as much chance of beating Rome as taking elephants over the Alps.

1018 - WESSEX: Ethelred Fowls persuades King Canute that anything Moses can do, the king can do better.

1066 - BATTLE: King Harold looks up when Jacques Fowls gets the Norman army to point to the sky and shout "Is it a Bird, Is it a Comet, No, Its an arrow."

1455 - CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW: Master Gardner, Henry Fowls judges Richard Duke of York's entry best of show - beginning the War of the Roses.

1529 - HAMPTON COURT: Mortimer Fowls introduces King Henry VIII to speed dating.

1577 - ENGLISH CHANNEL: Sir Francis Drake's pilot, Will Fowls, takes a wrong turn on a booze cruise to Calais and circum-navigates the world.

1812 - TRAFALGAR: Admiral Lord Nelson copies Midshipman Thomas Hardy Fowls's show of distain for the French riflemen by sticking his tongue out and waving his arm at them

1815 - WATERLOO: English double agent, Rodrigo Fowls, persuades Napoleon to take a nap and delay the main attack until the Prussians arrive, so that he can defeat both armies at once.

1854 - BALAKAVA: Lancer Sergeant George Fowls requests General Cardigan take the light brigade fox hunting down the valley, not realising that Russian's were anti hunt activists.

1912 - CAPE RACE, NORTH ATLANTIC: As his freezer has broken, Bar Steward Arthur Fowls, asks the captain to sail The Titanic a little closer to an iceberg to collect fresh ice for the cocktails.

1987: Rubber goods manufacturer Charlie Fowls wins contract to supply both NATO & Eastern Bloc armed forces with phosphorescent covered balls, hot water-bottles, so ending the "cold war", but inadvertently starting glow-ball warming.

OUR SERVICE TO YOU
We are able to arrange all classes of Personal Insurance and Commercial Insurances.
We will endeavour to satisfy your insurance needs and we will place your interests before other considerations.
You have the choice of either:
- Not receiving advice or recommendation from us for a particular insurance product.
OR
- Receiving advice and a recommendation after we have assessed your needs.
We will normally select a policy from a range of insurers.
You will be advised of the insurer and the insurance premium prior to entering into the contract of insurance.
We will try to ensure that the insurance products we offer meet your full requirements. If we cannot match those requirements we will explain the differences in the product that we are able to offer.
We will help you with any changes to any insurance cover that you wish to make.
We will help you with claims on insurance policies we have arranged, although we will not act as a claims assessor.

CLIENT'S DUTY TO GIVE INFORMATION
It is your responsibility to fully disclose any information or circumstance that may affect the insurers assessment of the risk insured. If in doubt always disclose. Failure to disclose, or incomplete information can lead to the insurance contract being invalid and any claim rejected. It could also lead to special terms being imposed.

CLAIMS
As soon as you become aware of an incident that may result in a claim being made you should follow the advice given in the policy document. If you experience any difficulty, you should either contact the insurers or ourselves to be advised on how to proceed. Delays in notifying the claim could prejudice the insurers position and may lead to the claim being rejected.

INFORMATION ABOUT COSTS
We will inform you of the premium required including all fees or charges prior to the insurance being affected. The method of remuneration for our services to our clients is either a proportion of the insurance policy premium (commission or brokerage), or a fee, or a combination of commission and fee.
